Founded in 1953, Horwich Amateur Theatre Society—affectionately known as HATS—has been bringing community theatre to Horwich and Bolton for more than 70 years.

From its humble beginnings, HATS has grown into a vibrant, friendly and inclusive amateur theatre society, recognised for producing high-quality musicals and entertaining live performances for audiences across Bolton and Greater Manchester.

Over 70 Years of Musical Theatre

Throughout our history, HATS has staged an exciting variety of productions, ranging from much-loved musical theatre classics such as Oliver!, Guys and Dolls and South Pacific to contemporary favourites including Made in Dagenham, The Addams Family and The Witches of Eastwick.

Our productions combine the talents of local actors, singers, dancers, musicians, directors, technicians and volunteers, all united by a shared passion for theatre and storytelling.

Community Theatre in Bolton

Our main productions are performed at the Peace Community Theatre in Bolton, where we aim to create memorable and accessible theatrical experiences for local audiences.
