About Horwich Amateur Theatre Society
Founded in 1953, Horwich Amateur Theatre Society — fondly known as HATS — has been a cornerstone of community theatre in Bolton for over 70 years. From humble beginnings, our society has grown into a vibrant, welcoming group known for delivering high-quality, entertaining, and inclusive productions.
Over the decades, we’ve lit up the stage with a wide range of shows — from musical classics like Oliver!, Guys and Dolls, and South Pacific, to modern favourites such as Made in Dagenham, The Addams Family, and most recently, the spellbinding Witches of Eastwick.
With performances based at the Peace Community Theatre, HATS is powered by local talent, passionate volunteers, and a deep love for storytelling. Whether it’s on stage, behind the scenes, or cheering from the audience, our members and supporters are at the heart of everything we do.
We are proud to be inclusive, community-led, and open to anyone with a love for the arts — whether you're a budding performer, a creative visionary, or simply looking to get involved in something fun and fulfilling.
HATS are proud members of N.O.D.A & B.A.T.S
Big voices. Big heart. Big theatre. Right here in Horwich.
